Restriction Weight Loss Surgery
Gastric Banding
(Lap Band)
In this procedure, a band
is placed around the upper section of the stomach, creating
a small pouch and narrow passage into the remainder of
the stomach. This limits food intake and slows the food
passing through your system, resulting in quick weight
loss. There is no stapling or altering the intestines.
This procedure is relatively very safe, but more effort
is required on the part of the participant to maintain
a healthy diet and exercise regimen for desired effectiveness.
Vertical Banded
Gastroplasty (VBG)
This weight loss surgery
is the most commonly used restrictive procedure, and involves
both banding and stapling to form the small pouch. Again,
the patient must work hard to eat healthy and exercise,
or you will regain all the initial weight loss.
The commons risks associated
with restrictive weight loss surgery include vomiting
due to under-chewed food particles stretching the small
stomach pouch, erosion of the bad, and staple line disruption.
